Carey was a high fashion model, who measures at 5'10", was popular with American designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. She is the daughter of a distinguished geologist, who was awarded the title of Scientist of the Year by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was educated throughout the world because of her father's work. The model began modeling for a part-time basis while she was attending college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. In 1980, she moved to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux but returned back to New York in order to pursue her modeling career. Her work was showcased on Vogue and Glamour cover. She was a full-time student in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned between modeling assignments. She became more interested in acting, and began taking classes in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she made her first appearance as an actor with a small character as a minor character in "Club Paradise" alongside Robin Williams. White water rafting, skis and rock climbing are her favorite things to do.
